Songs from Somewhere
I’ve been trying to figure out where songs come from. So I’ve been writing more, really letting myself inhabit the space they arise from. Creativity is and only ever was the act of removing barriers to creation. Not judging what comes up, following the lead, and making sure whatever it is cuts deep deep deep into what is possible for you at they moment.. Not being precious with the how or the what, but precious with the fact that it is.
Calming my nervous system and ittt bitty shitty committee to let music arise however it wants to. Watching it change as I grow more aware.
Have you written any poetry lately? Good or bad, leave it as a comment. The catharsis of sharing.
This song arose from me in the studio the other day, I scribbled it down and played.
God ain’t playing with a bowling alley on your chest No she ain’t playing with any toys I ain’t trying to break you any news I ain’t trying to rid you of your blues No I ain’t trying to be someone else’s man I ain’t trying to hold someone else’s hand And only when I’m waking up from this dreams Where everything seems different than it seems And only when I’m waking up from dreams of happy hearts inside my little room and they wan’t me to stay. I’m broken down and I ain’t got no glue The only thing I ever had was you And even when your broken at my feet I wouldn’t trade you for the ocean or the beach “Well, my angel don’t you got my card” There I go trying a little too hard You see, these days all I can do is rhyme about the pain and running out of time To say something brave. Tokens aren’t all I got to play Well maybe I might just be gay Well I’ve got a lot to say And even if I don’t……. maybe I can listen and you can and you can listen with me. And we can learn how to pray. I ran away to New York to write this song. Yeah I’m in New York writing you this song. And tonight I was wondering where you’re going. And if I maybe could just tag along. And if I maybe could just tag along. And if I maybe could just tag along. And if I maybe could just tag along. And if I maybe could just tag along.
